Ibrahim Kawa
Executive Director
Ibrahim H. Kawa is the Executive Director of TIP since 2001, following
TIP's transformation from a programme to an NGO. Before joining TIP he
was senior lecturer at Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA). In his
15 years of lectureship at SUA, Kawa published extensively on poverty
and rural development issues and carried out consultancies for various
local and international organisations such as UNFPA/PPU, OXFAM, Red-Cross,
Zanzibar Ministry of Economic Planning and Investments, Zanzibar Population
Planning Unit and Austro-Project. While at TIP, he did consultancies for
PIDP and AMSDP. Kawa is competent in (i) designing and managing rural
water resources projects particularly irrigation projects, water and environmental
sanitation projects, (ii) research/project proposals writing, coordinating
and supervising research projects; (iii) undertaking training needs assessment
(iv) developing impact indicators, monitoring and evaluation of projects;
(v) carrying out baseline social surveys; (vi) formulating, fund-sourcing
and managing rural development projects (vii) using conventional (social
surveys) and (viii) Participatory research methods (PRAs, PPAs and RAAKs),
consulting on institutional and organisational development . Kawa has
been the first Chairperson of the UNDP-funded COMPACT project in Tanzania
since 2001. In 1994 Kawa holds a Ph. D. in Natural Resources from the
University of East Anglia, UK.
Mr. Suitbert Mumburi
Finance & Administrative Officer

Mr. Suitbert Mumburi leads TIP’s four district finance teams, providing leadership, implementing accounting procedures, writing business plans, and installing effective financial reports. Mumburi has experience in all aspects of financial forecasting, resource allocation, fund management, accounting and control. He has been responsible for all financial matters of the organization e.g. budget and expenditures administration and internal auditing. Mumburi holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Management in Finance degree from the University of Dar es Salaam. Ms. Shangwe Kiluvia
Organizational Development, Gender Mainstreaming & Training Officer

Ms. Shangwe Kiluvia graduated from Larenstein International Agriculture College, The Netherlands in 1996 where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Tropical Agriculture. Kiluvia joined TIP in 1992 and served as Organizational Strengthening and Gender Advisor for Mwanga District. Kiluvia is responsible for training farmer groups including district staff and integrating gender issues in all TIP activities. Her work includes strengthening skills of water user groups, conducting baseline surveys and training consultant for other organizations. Irrigation Engineer

Mr. Anenmose Maro has worked with TIP since 2002. He supervises the design and construction of irrigation structures in four districts. Maro trains village technicians on best water management practices and construction techniques. He has managed several successful irrigation schemes including: Engaruka in Monduli district, Chekereni Weruweru Umbwe-onana, Nganjoni in Moshi Rural district, and design of Participatory Agricultural Development and Empowerment Project (PADEP) in Hai district. Before joining TIP, Maro was employed as a water resources engineer at the Ministry of Agriculture Kilimanjaro Zonal Office. He is a 1994 graduate of Catholic University Leuven, Belgium and holds a Masters in Irrigation Engineering. Mr. Peter Mjata
Land Use Planner

Peter Mjata earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics with major studies in Agriculture and Rural Development from Dar-es-Saalam University in 1986. He also holds a certificate in Monitoring and Evaluation of Basic Education and Development Training Programme from the University of Nairobi. Mjata has served at TIP since 2000 and directs the Land Use Planning section for all districts. Between 1991 and 2001, he worked on various environmental projects such as the Handeni Integrated Agroforestry Project sponsored by the government of Tanzania and the Federal Republic of Germany; the Community Participation Project of the Catchment Forestry Project sponsored by the governments of Tanzania and Norway through NORAD.

Loyce Kaitira
Management Information Systems Officer and
Market Access and Agro-enterprise Development Officer
Ms Loyce Kaitira has worked with TIP since 2003. Currently, Kaitira’s
focus is on Market Access and Agro-enterprise Development program, which
provides an integrated approach for accessing markets. Kaitira gained
her Masters in Natural Resources Management and Sustainable Agriculture
from Agriculture University of Norway in 2003. Previously she had been
a community capacity building associate with World Vision Tanzania.
