S o i l ..& ..W a t e r ..C o n s e r v a t i o n Farmers need to conserve their soils before support is provided to improve irrigation systems. Through training, Village Technicians are assisted in constructing terraces, and improving water harvesting techniques and drainage. For protection of the water resources, farmers are trained in the management of homestead tree nurseries and mobilized to plant trees within the catchment area.
Improve Land Management Practices
Most of the areas where TIP operates are over populated with frequent and extensive land and water conflicts. The situation creates problems such as reduced land productivity, food shortage, and lower household incomes. Land use planning provides maximum security of the traditional irrigation improvement interventions beyond the irrigation structures.
Benefits of Land Use Planning:
* Establishment of homestead multipurpose tree nurseries
* Increased land area under afforestation and terraces
* Reduced land and water use conflicts |
