Prof.
Suleman A. Chambo
Chairperson
Suleman Chambo is Princpal of the Moshi University College of Co-operative
and Business Studies. He is also an Associate Professor of economics
and co-operative management. Chambo is an active public speaker
and has recently presented research on: The National Microfinance
Policy of Tanzania; Strategies and Processes to add Value in Agricultural
Marketing Co-operatives in Tanzania; and Member Empowerment in Cooperative
Savings and Credit Co-operatives in East Africa. In 1987, Chambo
earned Master of Environmental studies from York University, Toronto
- Canada. His major fields of study included industrial co-operative
management in developing countries and organizational management.
Ms.
Bernadette Kinabo
Vice Chairperson
Bernadette Kinabo has more than 15 years leadership experience building
district and town councils to success. She promoted socio-economic
development in Kinondoni - Dar es Salaam City Council, Mbeya Municipal
Council, Arumeru District Council and most recently Singida Town
Council. Kinabo has a Master of Arts in Economic and Social Studies
from Manchester University, United Kingdom. She is an active Trustee
with International Children Village in Arusha.

Ibrahim H. Kawa
Secretary to the Board
Ibrahim H. Kawa is the Executive Director of TIP since 2001, following
TIP's transformation from a programme to an NGO. Before joining
TIP he was senior lecturer at Sokoine University of Agriculture
(SUA). In his 15 years of lectureship at SUA, Kawa published extensively
on poverty and rural development issues and carried out consultancies
for various local and international organisations such as UNFPA/PPU,
OXFAM, Red-Cross, Zanzibar Ministry of Economic Planning and Investments,
and Zanzibar Population Planning Unit Austro-Project. While at TIP,
he did consultancies for PIDP and AMSDP. Kawa has been the first
Chairperson of the UNDP-funded COMPACT project in Tanzania since
2001.
Prof.
Bertha Koda
Member
Bertha Koda is Associate Professor at University of Dar es Salaam.
She teaches courses on Agrarian change and Rural Development;Gender
and Development;and Land Tenure and Food Security. Prof. Koda conducts
national and international workshops on rural food security, gender
sensitization, rainwater harvesting, natural resource preservation,
land issues, leadership skills and globalization. She won a Woman
of the Year award in 2000. Koda’s research topics include:
improving management of common pool resources in rainwater harvesting;
the state of the art gender relations at the University of Dar es
Salaam; and policy review process at grassroots level for Shinyanga
Rural District.

Evelyne Lazaro
Member
Evelyne A. Lazaro is an agricultural economist by profession. She
studied undergraduate degree from 1981 to 1983 at University of
Dar-Es-Salaam - Tanzania in Agriculture specializing in Rural Economics.
Lazaro undertook a MS in Agricultural Economics in 1986 at Michigan
State University - USA. She graduated at Sokoine University of Agriculture
in 1996 with a PhD (partly done at the University of Hohenheim -
Germany) in Agricultural Economics. Specialized in Development Economics
with emphasis in agricultural development, farming systems and gender;
Lazaro has done extensive research work in agricultural development
and consultancies in varied development issues. Currently, Evelyne
holds the post of senior research fellow at Sokoine University of
Agriculture.
Mr.
Bashiru Makau
Member
With over 20 years experience as a forest officer, Makau has provided
expert assistance to Agricultural Inputs and Animal Seeds Supplier,
and Ngulwi Environmental Conservation Group in Lushoto. In 1990,
the Norwegian Embassy sponsored Makau to work on Mangrove study
tours to Oman, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore. Makau earned a
diploma in Forestry from Olmotony Training Institute Arusha in 1979.

Reginald Temu
Member
Reginald Temu is head of the Technical Advisory Unit of the irrigation
component of Agricultural Sector Programme Support at Ministry of
Agriculture and Food Security. His is responsible for coordinating
all technical and managerial aspects of the component activities
under the overall implementation by the Irrigation Department. An
accomplished Civil/Irrigation Engineer, Temu has expertise in project
planning, preparation, design, operation and management. He has
hands-on experience in managing effective farmer participation with
contribution to their development programmes and capacity building.
Temu holds a MSc. in Irrigation Engineering from the University
of Southampton, United Kingdom.
Ms Elizabeth
Minde
Member
Elizabeth Minde, Managing Director of Kilimanjaro Women Information
Exchange and Consultancy Organisation, has more than 15 years experience
as an Advocate. She has published several papers on violation of
human rights against women, HIV/AIDS, and factors affecting women
involvement in cooperatives. Minde is also a board member of TANAPA,
Ngorongoro Conservation Authority, Heifer Project Tanzania and Moshi
Urban Water Authority. She has conducted consultancies including:
Review of Cooperative Laws, Study for the Establishment of Commercial
Court in Arusha, and Training Legal Human Rights and Gender issues
to CBOs and community groups.
Mr.
Fanuel Mlenge
Member
Fanuel Mlenge’s expertise lies in disaster management, water
resources and environmental management, web technology, Geographic
Information Systems (GIS) and remote sensing. He is currently employed
at the University College of Lands and Architectural Studies (UCLAS)
where he works at the Disaster Management Training Centre (DMTC)
and also manages the UCLAS website (www.uclas.ac.tz).
Mr.
Loti Sareyo
Member
Loti Sareyo is the coordinator of the Cultural Tourism Programme
in his village, which helps the community enjoy the benefit of tourism.
He is also village Chairman in Ng’iresi. Sareyo has nearly
30 years small farming experience. He is a Village Technician who
teaches farmers about soil conservation, agro-forestry and irrigation
methods. |
